Judge Robert W. Brown
Judge Robert W. Brown
Judge Brown has had the pleasure of serving as the Belgrade City Judge for the past 2.5 years. He came to the court after almost 16 years as a Police Officer, 6 years as a criminal defense attorney and 10 years as a prosecutor for both the State of Montana and Gallatin County. While serving as a Police Officer in California, Judge Brown was a Motorcycle Officer, Detective and a member of San Diego County's elite Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT, Mountain Rescue, Underwater Recovery). Judge Brown attended law school while a Sheriff's Deputy, receiving both a Juris Doctor and a Masters of Forensic Science.

While serving as the Belgrade City Judge, Judge Brown continued as Adjunct Professor at Montana State University.

In the 17 years he has been in Gallatin Valley, he has watched the City of Belgrade grow from a small agricultural community into the sprawling city it has become. In his tenure with the court, the court's caseload has more than doubled, which he feels reflects the trend in Gallatin County; if not the entire State of Montana.

The Belgrade City Court handles approximately 1500 cases and generates over $100,000.00 in revenue annually. These numbers reflect not only the criminal cases but an ever-growing number of civil cases and Orders of Protection as well.
